Rushey Green Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and is carefully planned and sequenced to provide an inclusive, high-quality education for all pupils, enabling every child to achieve and thrive. All learning is underpinned by our core school values: resilience, unity, self-belief, honesty, empathy and a yearning to learn

When using any schemes of learning, we personalise them, and teachers ensure that units are adapted to meet the needs of the children. We use these resources to support planning and resourcing:

Our curriculum gives children a structured learning experience that builds knowledge steadily, strengthens key skills and helps them to grow into confident, curious learners. Children revisit key ideas throughout the year, which enables them to remember more and connect learning across subjects. Our approach to teaching the curriculum is designed to build deep, secure understanding by introducing new concepts in carefully sequenced steps, revisiting key ideas over time, and giving children meaningful opportunities to apply what they know. A deliberate focus on language, supported by explicit vocabulary instruction and the use of sentence stems in maths, gives children the words they need to express their thinking clearly and overcome learning barriers. Our curriculum is designed to equip pupils with transferable skills that help them become confident, independent learners. Alongside strong academic progress, it nurtures creativity, curiosity, and a broad set of competencies that prepare children for future learning and life.
